1. Make a Clean Cut
Make a clean cut on aluminum, brass, or steel.

2. Measure the Diameters
Measure the diameter of the cut closest to the chuck and the diameter furthest from the chuck. Use micrometers for best results, or calipers for decent results.

3. Enter Your Values
Enter the diameter measurements according to the graphic above. Enter the length of stock from the chuck jaws.

4. Move and Align
Place the indicator at the tip radius of the stock and move the headstock by the calculated amount shown above.
Tip: Small adjustments make a big difference. Re-cut and re-measure to fine tune your alignment.
